Step Up Transformers
A step up transformer works due to the secondary voltage
being
greater than the primary voltage. When the secondary voltage
is greater, it steps up
the voltage input at the power source.
To get a better understanding of this, you will need to know how the
transformer works. A transformer is made up of two coils or more of
insulated wire, which is wound around a core made of iron. The
transformer changes the voltage by the number of times the wires
are wrapped around the core. If the primary winding has fewer turns than the
secondary winding, the device becomes a step up transformer that will increase
electrical voltage. When voltage is applied to one coil, which is called
the primary or input, it magnetizes the iron core. This
process induces a
voltage in the other core, which is called the secondary or the
